Online Degrees: Marketing

The ability to research and understand demographic groups is a central requirement in marketing. Marketing experts convert complex research into comprehensive plans for business, government and non-profit groups. Graduates may find themselves planning sales strategies, researching demographics for a retailer or government agency, working as a buyer for their favorite brand, or rising to retail, advertising, or sales management positions. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that marketing managers saw mean annual earnings of $113,400 in 2007. Wholesale and retail purchasing agents earned $53,580, while market research analysts earned $66,980. Generally, entry-level positions are most likely to require bachelor's degrees, though some part-time and assistant positions may be possible with a certificate or diploma.
